The reserve was established by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 583 of 29 May 2001 to study, protect, restore and promote the historical and architectural heritage of the towns of Kremenets and Pochaiv. The reserve includes 18 architectural monuments of national and local importance. You know them well, because at least once visited the Pochaiv Holy Dormition Lavra or the Kremenets Castle (Castle Hill of Queen Bona) to look at the fragments of fortification of castle of the IX – XVI centuries and see a magnificent panorama of the ancient city. However, all our monuments are worthy of your attention and our guides always have wonderful stories for you about the Franciscan monastery and the Jesuit collegium, the inhabitants of beautiful Twin Houses, a unique example of urban development of the palace type, the house of the family of the city nobleman, which is made of wood and has a shingle roof, and a number of other attractions.
During its activity, the State Reserve has established scientific, research, exhibition and excursion work. We actively participate in international and national conferences and festivals.
We have successfully established fruitful cooperation with scientific institutions in Ukrainian and foreign cities. The reserve has a Scientific Council and is actively engaged in fundraising. Throughout the year, we hold dozens of exhibitions and informative, interesting lectures, thereby promoting historical and architectural monuments. Each time we diversify the subject matter of the exhibitions, which can include archeology, ethnography, works of sacred art, and numismatics. We also hold exhibitions of applied art by Ukrainian artists (paintings, dolls, embroidery).
The number of visitors to the Reserve has increased over the past year thanks to intensive promotion and the creation of interesting events.
The Kremenets-Pochaiv State Historical and Architectural Reserve is a leader in the tourism industry not only in Kremenets and Pochaiv, but also throughout the region.
It is always a pleasure for us to see you among our guests!
