Orysia Obolonchyk and Vasyl Kovbasa, employees of the Kremenets-Pochayiv State Historical and Architectural Reserve, took part in the Third Heritage Academy for Ukraine, which took place on 17–21 September in Krakow. This year’s programme brought together 15 cultural sector specialists from different regions of Ukraine to discuss contemporary approaches to promoting cultural heritage and exchange experiences with their Polish colleagues.
The Academy combined lectures and study visits to seven cultural institutions in Krakow and Silesia. Participants studied practices in organising exhibitions, developing marketing and promotional strategies, communicating with audiences, and effectively using social media to expand reach. Special attention was paid to issues of accessibility of cultural institutions for different groups of visitors.
During the study visits, participants visited: Muzeum Narodowe w Krakowie , Muzeum Podgórza / Muzeum Krakowa , Muzeum “Górnośląski Park Etnograficzny w Chorzowie” , Zabytkowa Kopalnia IGNACY , Ośrodek Kultury Norwida та Dom Utopii – Międzynarodowe Centrum Empatii. Each institution presented practical cases of heritage preservation and promotion that can be adapted to Ukrainian conditions.
The academy was implemented by the Międzynarodowe Centrum Kultury w Krakowie in partnership with the Ancient Zvenigorod Historical and Cultural Reserve. The project was financed by a grant from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland as part of the Kultura inspirująca 2025–2026 (Culture that Inspires) programme in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.
