A monument of architecture of national importance (security number 671 N)
One of the surviving buildings on the southern boundary of the market square is two twin-houses connected by one wall. This building is an architectural monument of national importance called «Twins», built in XVII-XVIII century and belongs to unique examples of local town construction. The house frontage located in front of market square, while entrance is on the Medova Street.
For the functional purposes «Twins» are residential building. Consist of two interconnected houses, rectangular layout, elongated from north to east, have two floors which situated on stone cellars and have two gable roofs. Twin-House frontages have three-window frontages, with attractive pediments. Central windows of second floor have balconies with decorative shod lattices of the end of XIX century. Buildings strengthened by buttresses – typical construction element of this period. Obviously at that time two houses were combined into one and from outside monument acquired style features of the late Baroque. First floor of «Twins» served as a warehouse and a commercial place, while second one was residential, which was typical solution for local housing construction.
