Ferritron (double-sided removable icon) “Annunciation”/ “Theophany”. (18th century). The feritron is decorated with massive gilded baroque plastic carving in the form of small flowers and winding leaves, which frames the icons in the form of cartouches, concave on the sides. At the top and bottom of the frame (on both sides of the feritron) there are carved cartouches. The frame decor is asymmetrical. The carving of the frame is without visible losses. The feritron is crowned with a small metal (unpainted) four-pointed cross inserted into a cylindrical protrusion at the top of the feritron. The icon “Annunciation” depicts a two-figure composition: the Virgin Mary, kneeling, turned to the Archangel Gabriel with a lily flower in his left hand, who descended to her on a cloud and brought the good news. On the right is an open book and a side detail of a prayer bench, in front of which is the Virgin Mary. At the top in the center on a golden background is a dove-the Holy Spirit, overshadowing the Virgin Mary. Framed in the center on the upper cartouche, the coat of arms of the Basilian Order is carved. The icon of the Epiphany depicts a two-figure composition: Jesus Christ receives Baptism in the Jordan River from John the Baptist. At the top in the center on a golden background is a dove-the Holy Spirit, overshadowing the sacred action. The composition is shifted to the left in order to place the figure of Christ in the center. Framed in the center on the upper cartouche, the word “IHS” with a cross above the letter “X” is carved.
