A monument of architecture of local importance (security number 48 M).
The house was built in the first half of the 19th century in the classicist style as an administrative building, where the Kremenets Town Magistrate was located. The building reflected the historically progressive building and architectural trends of the time. A typical stylistic feature of the building is the use of columns and a portico with a pediment. The clarity of the forms, absence of unnecessary decor, symmetry and monumentality indicate the original purpose of this monument as a governmental building.
The building typology is a corridor and two-sidedlayout. The faсades have a clear transition from the first to the second floor, and the roof ends with a cornice.
Due to the fact that in the late 30s of the XIX century the Kremenets magistrate, like the magistrates of other county towns in the Volyn province, was divided into the duma and the magistrate itself, there was obviously a need of a new building. Taking into account the fact that the old town hall was subject to fires and was limited by the small size of the plot on which it was built, it was decided to build the magistrate’s office above Horna Street, which stretched from the market. This area was built behind the city rampart and was named Zavalna, which appears in documents from 1794.
The building was used as a government building until the Second World War, and later it was used as a health care facility and sanitary service. Today it houses the headquarters of the Kremenets-Pochaiv State Historical and Architectural Reserve.
